“Self-care is not selfish or self-indulgent. We cannot nurture others from a dry well. We need to take care of our own needs first, so that we can give from our surplus, our abundance. When we nurture others from a place of fullness, we feel renewed instead of taken advantage of.”

Tonight the cup is empty. I simply have no words.
3 1/2 weeks ago the hurricane hit. Now Hurricane Michael is headed toward my dear friend in Florida and coming up our way as a Tropical Storm. I have huge branches damaged from the hurricane hanging dangerously. I am afraid they will fall, or other damage will occur. I am so afraid.
Frankly I’m a mess. I have been dealing with something hard today for the last few hours. I didn’t sleep much last night and somewhere around 5 a.m. was so afraid I could barely breathe.
I want to write blog posts that matter. Today I just don’t have it in me. I came. I touched base. That is all. Some days that might be what happens. Not often, but some days. This is one of them.
I’m sorry.
Infinite Compassion: A 365 Day Journey~
Day 1 – Peeling The Layers Of The Heart…
“We must continue to open in the face of tremendous opposition.
No one is encouraging us to open and still we must
peel away the layers of the heart.”
Chogyam Trungpa, Rinpoche
don’t be sorry sweetie. you came, you wrote, you gave what you could. tomorrow will be better. if only we could all wave magic wands for each other to dispel the difficulties, the angst, the fear. but that IS what love does. It sends a message that someone cares, someone is surrounding you with the protection of the greatest resource there is, kindness and compassion, and cheering you on. Sometimes it’s our turn to do that for you, and sometimes it’s your turn to do it for us. So rest easy, my friend. You will get thru this, and arrive at a place where you’ll be smiling again.
Thank you Katya honey. Tonight I am worried about you with the hurricane headed right for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers and heart. And I’m just kind of sitting here holding your hand. Some nights that helps too…
I love you Ka. Be safe…

Love you. Hope you’ll sleep very well indeed, tonight.
Surrounding you and your home in prayers for calm and safety.
Thank you Beverley honey, but are YOU in Florida? Is the hurricane coming your way? I am so worried about all my friends in Florida. If you are there, or wherever you are, you are in my heart and in my prayers…
Maitri,
Everything you write matters. This you do for you. Sending you love and prayers. <3
Thank you honey. And this is the lesson about the 365 days. It is about showing up. We do the best we can each day, as long as we show up, we have done our job that day. Today this is what I could do. I will look forward to reading what you wrote in the morning. I am getting offline right now. Today has been too much here…
Hey Maitri, I had to have several large trees taken down as they had died. They could have hit the house. Be careful with cowboy “arborists” they don’t know anything about trees – they just start up a franchise and simply don’t know what they are doing – they just flip out a chain saw! They break all kinds of fencing laws and cut trees the wrong way. I read an article in my local newspaper about people such as this and they were all in my district! Just check to see if they are a qualified tree surgeon and being an arborist. You could check articles in an online home improvements page in your area. They may have an article written about it and suitably trained people. You could set up crowd funding on http://www.gofundme.com and raise funds via donation but just letting you know if you do get funds its taxable. Another option is to set up a fundraiser on facebook – you just use your current facebook profile and create a fundraiser which gets circulated around facebook. Its easy to do. If you still can’t afford it I would say go with something like we have here called Rotary or Lions Club which is a community minded bunch of people that offer all kinds of charitable services. They may be able to link you in with someone who can do the job
Thank you for thinking of me Leeanne. Believe me I am well aware of the tree situation and the need for qualified people. And a GoFundMe Campaign was done for me after the hurricane and paid to remove a tree from my house. Others made donations via PayPal. The thing is I live on a heavily wooded place with very large trees encircling the house and all around. It would take thousands of dollars to remove all the ones that would make the house safe. Believe me all is being looked into. It’s what ALL of us are doing here now. I appreciate your kind thoughts…
Thats good Maitri. I know trees are expensive to take down. I did not know that you knew about arborists – my next door neighbors did not know and had an unqualified person in. I have had to take down several trees and still have one tree left to go. I just took out a social security loan. I may go ahead and do gofundme but for the life of me can’t understand why everyone can raise funds but I can’t. It seems to work for everyone else for some reason. BTW how do I put a photo next to my name on this blog. I want to put my photo up Maitri
Much love to you Maitri. You wrote what you could and how you were feeling. That counted. Be as good to yourself as you can. Surrounding you with your angels who are already there with you now and always.
Much Love, Jean
Thank you Jean honey. Yes, I did what I could. Now I am getting offline to snuggle with the babies. Enough is enough and today has been too much. I am done.
Sending all good thoughts, Maitri.
No worries about a short post —
