I wanted to share a little bit with you about the creation of Maisie’s book. Patrons at Patreon get to see all of the pages as they are created, and at Tier 2 on Patreon (and up) Patrons get to see the process of creating the book. Yesterday I posted a number of pages but last night I realized they weren’t quite what I wanted. They had thin black borders for each page, for example, and bolder type and I wanted a softer, gentler look for Maisie’s book, still bright and colorful and cheerful and fun, but a little easier on the eye.

Here is a 2 page spread as it would be seen in the paperback book. Still playing and working on it but day by day my vision becomes clearer. 

It is turning into quite an adventure. After a lifetime of writing text only books, etc, doing an illustrated book is quite a learning curve, but I am loving it. Today I will be redoing the pages I had already created and shown to my Patrons yesterday for this softer look. It feels much better. 

I am still learning of course and everything is subject to change. I want the book to be inviting and not jarring. The black borders and bold text were just too much. Live and learn!
