The Sunday Night Writing Group For Women

Class size is strictly limited to 20 people. Registration is open for a short period of time. We only have a few spaces available. If you are interested write to me at the gmail address above after reading the information below. Registration will soon be closed until after the first of the year.

Please read this post so you understand what
the classes require in terms of a commitment.

I have written seriously for 55 years and been a writing teacher for 40 years. Writing is my way in the world. I have written both fiction and non-fiction, had several small presses, written for magazines, newspapers, been published in anthologizes, created a number of different zines, had several blogs, the current one is in it’s 12th year, I have run the gamut, but the main thing is that writing has healed me, and in fact saved my life since I was a young girl. I have trained extensively with teachers who use writing as a tool for healing and recovery, most especially Dr. Ira Progoff of The Intensive Journal Method. And I knew that finally it was time for me to come back to teaching the writing group that has been my core work for 40 years.

I have taught courses that were anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks long, taught courses, as so many do today, that were topical, and all of these things have their place, but what I realized was that I wanted to create something that was ongoing, I want this to be a place women can come every week to write together. A structured class where a lot of writing is done, shared, in safe and sacred space, absolutely private. This is deep soul writing, it is gentle, healing, heart-opening, transformative work. You leave each class not only having written but with tools for life to use as you go forth.

A special word about how I teach, it is very specific and if you are interested in this group please read this first so you know what you’ll be getting.

I want to say that any and all work I ever do is rooted in compassion and loving-kindness. This is not a place for people with an agenda, political, religious, or otherwise, to get up on a soapbox and use this as a forum for irate diatribes. And this will absolutely be safe space. What you hear here stays here. You can share your own writings however you choose. You may not share what you hear anyone else read. This is a sacred trust and one I have held dear in my classes for 40 years.

The Sunday Night Writing Group is offered on a donation basis. Click on the link below to make your donation at Paypal. The link will also be in the emails I send out to the group weekly with pertinent information about the classes, the link to get in, etc.

We will be using the Zoom video platform and you will receive information about how to get in the group after you register. You may not participate by phone. You must appear on video with the rest of the class. This makes everyone feel safe and as though people aren’t there “watching.” Only active participation is allowed.

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a casual class. It is a very structured, hard working class. For that reason it is essential that you arrive on time or a little early. It is both disruptive when people come in late and as well coming in late you miss the introduction to the material and how we need to do things. I cannot stop and explain to latecomers what is going on. I will be there from 7:45 to 8:00 to greet people and chat with them and answer questions but then everyone is muted and we begin to work.

Also I have created a “Secret” Facebook group for The Sunday Night Writing Group. Only those people who are registered participants will be allowed in this group. No one outside of the group can see it. It is absolutely private. I wanted to have a place for me to communicate with you via Live videos after the class and for you to gather to talk to the other participants. Maybe you will be excited when the class is over on a Sunday and want to talk to others you’ve just written with, not about the content of the writing you have done (This is NOT a “Support Group.”) but in general, about the process itself, or other writing concerns. I come to the group in a live video every Monday morning after our Sunday night class.

If you have questions or would like more information write to me at TheSundayNightWritingGroup@gmail.com.
