The Experiment: Day 9 ~ A Play Day!

Dearhearts,

I have been working on the website all day, playing with colors, backgrounds, making a new banner and so on. Some days we just have to play. So this wee post is just to remind you that it’s important to have play days, and as you come back and forth here the next few days things are liable to keep changing! I’m having a hard time finding a background that I’m happy with and it’s already 8:30 p.m. Noni was arriving late tonight because her grand-daughter was in some kind of program but she’ll be here any minute. And I never ate dinner, unless you count potato chips. Noni brought those last night and left them here which was dangerous. I ate some in the middle of the night. I ate some for dinner. Then I figured I should eat something more substantial so I’m eating a bowl of cereal while I’m typing this. This is pitiful. But it’s been a fun play day (except when I took a nap with the pugs, but that was nice too) and now I better upload this so there’s SOMETHING up today for this 365 Day project. It’s not exactly cheating, but it is a tad unusual. Go on and play, if you’re alone you can play solitaire — I play Klondike solitaire on my phone all the time, it calms my nerves —  but do play something. And I will see you tomorrow. And I will be more productive than I was today. Well, that’s not right, I was productive on the web work even if I did watch/really listen to 2 youtube videos with Glennon Doyle Melton while I was working!

I hope you’re having a good Saturday night. Me, I want something to eat besides cereal!

A somewhat embarrassed…

  1. I had a play day today too – tom and i went yard sailing, then we went to wakulla springs state park and had a refreshing swim in icy cold water then read in the sun, then swam, then read, then went to the flea market and bought veggies and some gulf shrimp and made a yummy dinner, and after i’ve been curled up reading a great “chick lit” book.
so yay us! never too old or to “driven” by shoulds, to have a play day

    • Oh Katya I love the picture you paint of you and Tom having your wonderful day together! And gulf shrimp! Yum! And I’m dying to know what “chick lit” book you are reading! Do tell! Yes, play days rock, they are so important! I’m glad you had fun! Love you honey… 🙂

  2. Creative work is play. It is free speculation using materials of one’s chosen form.

    • Oh Margaretha! I loved that book when it came out, and used it with my students. I think Nachmanovitch is fascinating! Thank you for reminding me.

And isn’t it wonderful that it’s October now? My favorite month of the year. I hope it is a beautiful month for you honey…

  3. Just about every day I play two or three games on the Facebook Gameroom I play Scrabble with 3 other people. I also play Klondike Solitarie and another word finding game. Often I play them while I’m listening to some kind of podcast. I get too fidgety just sitting at the computer to listen to a talk, so it really helps to have something else to visually focus upon. Still, it’s play! 🙂

    • Joan, don’t you LOVE Klondike Solitaire? I swear, at night, when I get in my cozy chair with the pugs, before I can read I usually play a few games. Somehow it helps me switch over from the day to a calmer state of mind and then it’s easier to read. But I know what you mean about the podcasts, my bipolary brain *fidgets* all over the place so when I’m drawing I like to listen to a podcast, it keeps that part of my brain busy so I can draw more freely. Funny how our brains often need quieting by one mode so the other mode is possible. It’s something that fascinates me…. 🙂

  4. Lovely little piece, there. And I love the flowers of your background. Very nice and cheerful pattern. Hope you had something nice to eat. 🙂

    • Thank you so much Corinne, and I’m so glad you like the flowers. I have changed the background so many times I’m dizzy! 😀 But I think I like this one. I just needed a fresh new look with a more updated picture. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I didn’t end up eating much on Saturday night but LAST night I ordered pizza! Something I rarely ever do, but I haven’t been able to make myself go grocery shopping for over a week and the cupboard was pretty bare. I’ll not do that again soon but it was fun. The pugs got some bites of crust which they thought was a jolly good idea too! 😀
