Dear Ones, 💗
In the last four years I have become increasingly disabled. I can hardly walk, don't go outside, but can do my work. With the support of Patrons on Patreon, and since I now live only on social security, their help and support has been a godsend as I write my book on learning how to grow older with as much grace as we can muster, how to get through the hard times, the losses, the gains, resources and more.
You can be my Patron for as little as $5 a month and in return you get many gifts. A weekly 45 minute podcast, "Notes From Maitri," little blog posts for Patrons only. Downloadable free art, as well as books I love, showing my art process and the supplies I use and where you can get them, and so much more.
No matter how old we are we're all getting older. This is a book for everyone!
Maitri both writes and draws to make sense of her life. She lives with her emotional support dog, a "chigi" (chihuahua/corgi mix) Molly, and her parakeet Franny, at Dragonfly Cottage on the coast of North Carolina.
Maisie & I invite you to visit us at Society6. Over 30 different Maisie paintings on all manner of merchandise. Prints and wall art, mugs, tote bags, t-shirts, journals, stickers, and so much more. Have a look! It's so much fun to bring Maisie and her World into your life! 💖
You are not alone dear one. I have had this link on my site for over 20 years. I am putting it back on now. It is the most beautiful site. Millions of people around the world use it 24 hours a day. You can light a virtual flickering candle, say a prayer, put in a prayer request, anonymously, or leave your name or initials. When we pray in community it is a very powerful thing indeed. I am holding you in my heart and prayers. I light a candle here routinely and am deeply moved by the experience...

What a heart you have! Bless you for this post! I’m older than you, and I decided that the wrinkles I have are because I smile a lot. (After all, that’s where they are, so there!) About 10 years ago, I got the surprise of my life when my mother’s face was looking back at me! I’d always looked more like my dad’s side, but now with jowls, I resemble my loving momma. Oh, well, that’s the thing that comes with age. And I’m grateful to be here!
happy weekend and hugs to you!
BTW I won’t comment again because I hate Word Verification; I don’t have it and have had no problems on my blog.
Maitri, how is that you always know just what to say? The kindness you’ve expressed in this post, I find that amazing and so very special and I want to take your words to heart, “That you will turn away from the mirror and feel that soft place inside of you that loves, that is gentle and kind, and that that is the part of you that you should nurture and care for.” How often I forget to really nurture my heart.. and I really do believe that’s the best part of me and I’ve no doubt that that is also the best part of you Maitri. Your beautiful caring and soft spoken heart.
You are awesome, beautiful and precious…not because someone else says so or thinks so…but just because you are.
Out of the gazillions of little spermatozoa that had a chance to become life…you, unique you, was the one that was chosen. You have your purpose and reason for being here friend,…which is Davine and beyond our human understanding…even if and dare I say, ESPECIALLY if, its to help someone else understand theirs. Be at complete peace. You are cherished.
Thank you for sharing your story! As long as you are alive, anything is possible. We set our own limits. We can choose to be prisoners, or we can set ourselves free.
Peaceful Blessings, Maitri!
Dave Lucas
I feel alot like you but let me say that picture of you is great
Maitri, you have a wonderful and courageous heart despite of your lifelong battle. It is no wonder why the Lord above has given you lots of blessings and wisdom to share with all of us. Stay beautiful and true, you have great smile.
I love reading your posts here. They uplift me when I am not feeling terribly uplifted. I too suffer from depression and have been working my way through it hoping to finally get to the other side. Thanks for the unique way you have of offering love and encouragement.
